Yanir The second album from The Crooked Fiddle Band lives up to the high standard set by the first album. I'm glad I supported the Pozible campaign to get this album out. It's great to have a band like this in Sydney. Favorite track: Neptune's Fool.

Andrea Rossi I've loved this band since when Overgrown Tales came out, but here we are on totally another level: great melodies, furious runs and wonderful ballads, perfect singing. A very welcome evolution for this band. Favorite track: The Vanishing Shapes of a Better World.

DJHDD The new Crooked Fiddle band album is a more mature sound than previous work. Although these guys could rock it out with the best this time they are showing a great depth of melody via the folktronica genre. Favorite track: The Vanishing Shapes of a Better World.

about

Moving Pieces of the Sea is the second album by The Crooked Fiddle Band. Written on tour around the fjords of Norway and lakes of Finland, the album takes the band's reputation for intense, ecstatic energy and imbues it with a crystalline, cinematic expansiveness.

The album and opening track take their name from a letter by French ocean pioneer Jacques Cousteau to his son:

'Twilight was turning to sheer darkness, and our structures became eerie shadows. The fish were just moving pieces of the sea. I smiled because I knew...you would always seek after the vanishing shapes of a better world"
- Jaques Cousteau, 1963
